Is Taylor Swift’s ‘Dear John’ About John Mayer?

“Innocent” is about Kanye West. “Back to December” might be about Taylor Lautner. “Mean” is all about her critics. And it appears that John Mayer may even be the subject of a song penned by Taylor Swift for her forthcoming album, Speak Now, due October 25.

While Swift isn’t naming names on “Dear John” — well, last names at least — she doesn’t shy away from calling out someone for a love gone terribly wrong. There’s no confirmation that the tune is about Mayer, but some lyrics that have appeared online have everyone wondering if he’s the John she’s singing about.

In the song, Swift really gives it to the aforementioned guy, singing, “Dear John/ I see it all now that you’re gone/ Don’t you think I was too young/ To be messed with/ The girl in the dress/ Cried the whole way home/ I should’ve known.”

Further on, she sings, “It was wrong/ Don’t you think 19’s too young/ To be played/ By your dark, twisted games/ When I loved you so.”

A teenage Swift collaborated with the 30-something Mayer on a tune titled “Half of My Heart,” which appeared on his 2009 album, Battle Studies, and the two had been rumored to have dated for a short period after they worked on the track.

Additional leaked lyrics from “Dear John” include: “My mother accused me of losing my mind/ But I swore I was fine/ You’ll add my name to your long list of traitors who don’t understand/ And I’ll look back in regret, I ignored what they said/ ‘Run as fast as you can.’ ”

Strangely enough, the last line of this verse is very similar to one written by the subject of “Innocent,” West, in his single “Runaway” — off his forthcoming November release, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy — which he performed at the VMAs last month.

Swift recently discussed “Dear John” with the New York Post, admitting, “There’s actually no surprise person on this record.” She added: “I will be excited for you to hear that song, though.”

My Chemical Romance Say ‘Na Na Na’ Video Is Their ‘Biggest Moment’

In their near-decade of existence, My Chemical Romance has had plenty of rather huge moments: touring with Green Day, premiering the first single from their Black Parade album some 70 stories above New York City and covering Bob Dylan for the “Watchmen” soundtrack, just to name a few.

But according to the band themselves, all of those achievements pale in comparison to their sprawling, spastic video for “Na Na Na”. To hear them tell it, just making the clip was the biggest achievement of their entire career … because it capped a long journey back from the brink.
“It was a really big moment for the band. It was a really special moment, because it was all of us together, acting, living it, being part of it, like living the actual dream that we had all talked about … and then to physically be in it?” MCR frontman Gerard Way told MTV News. “It was, to me, the biggest moment ever, being in this band. It used to be when I walked on the set of [the] ‘Black Parade’ [video], but now it’s that moment where I can remember the sun shining on us, and there’s dirt everywhere and sand and we’re all running around firing ray guns. That was the biggest moment to me.”

And though, by his own estimation, Way spent “three … or four years” toiling away on the basic concept of the “Na Na Na” video (and MCR’s brand-new Killjoys reinvention), his greatest achievement as co-director was creating a visceral, hard-charging thrill ride for his bandmates. And years from now, that’s what they’ll remember most about the clip.

“It was incredible … it was so much fun,” guitarist Frank Iero laughed. “Any time you get a chance to drive really fast in the desert, shooting ray guns at dudes in Dracula masks … are you kidding me?”

Justin Bieber To Release Acoustic Album

Justin Bieber has revealed that this holiday season he’s going to release an acoustic album. He made the announcement via Twitter.

“Curious…What is your favorite song on MY WORLD and MY WORLD 2.0?? If you could remix any song with another artist which would it be? And who would you want me to duet with?? and on which song?? Thanks,” he initially tweeted before spilling a few more beans about the forthcoming release.

In addition to old tunes, it seems this album will feature a brand-new song as well. “hey dankanter I think it’s time to make an UNPLUGGED album for the fans for the holidays….or maybe we already did…hmmmm,” he then tweeted to Dan Kanter, the singer’s musical director and guitarist. “Maybe we need to give everybody an UNPLUGGED acoustic album with that new song I cut in Hawaii for the holidays…thoughts???”

Bieber, who plays acoustic guitar during many of his live performances, then revealed that he has already recorded songs for the album. Further information, including the release date and the album’s title, was not available at press time. “So I’m thinking about breaking out the acoustic guitar and having some fun… …so an UNPLUGGED album for the HOLIDAYS????” he wrote. “Listening to tracks from the new UNPLUGGED acoustic album. feeling really good about it. dankanter u excited. back to the roots.”

Kanter tweeted about the vibe of the album. “@justinbieber Loving the percussion… Cajones and congas!” he teased. “Definitely an influence from our travels around the world!”

At the VMAs, Bieber revealed that he is working on an album of all-new music as well. “[It'll] probably [come out] fourth quarter next year,” he said. “Drake is gonna be on that album; I’m not sure [who else]. I’m gonna ask him if he can get [Lil] Wayne on there.”

Jennifer Lopez ‘Loves’ Her ‘American Idol’ Gig

Jennifer Lopez seems to be fitting in nicely with her new co-workers at “American Idol.” On Tuesday (October 19), she stopped by CBS’ “The Talk” and opened up about sitting alongside Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler.

“[Critiquing the bad singers is] the easy part… I’m loving it,” she said. “It’s so much fun. When it goes live I’ll be home for, like, five months. It’s been great.”

The happiness didn’t stop there. “I love everybody,” she said. “It’s such a machine. It runs like clockwork. I love [executive producer] Nigel [Lythgoe]. I love Ryan [Seacrest]. I love Steven [Tyler]. I love Randy [Jackson]. Everything’s great!”

Well… not everything. There is one part of her job where the fun takes a backseat. “It’s easy when they’re really good and it’s easy when they’re really bad,” she said. “It’s when they’re in the middle.”

Lopez explained that contestants get trapped in “the middle” when they have a look but no sound, or a sound but no look. “It’s a really hard process. It just depends how you are in the audition,” she said. “I think it is a good depiction of how the business is. I think it’s just fast-forward.”

During an “Idol” stop in New Jersey last month, Lopez expressed a similar sentiment. “I don’t want to let anybody really great [not make it through] because they’re nervous, and not get to see what they could have did,” Lopez said at the time. “They’re going to come in here and be a little bit nervous in the beginning, and then you realize, ‘Wow, that person is really talented.’ So we work them a little bit more than maybe you’ve seen in the past. We’ve given them more of a chance.”

Describing her judging style as “tough, easy and fair,” she noted that she understands the emotions going through hopefuls’ heads. “We know what it’s like to be out there,” Lopez said. “I was energized by all of their spirit when they come in here, and they’re so hopeful about what could happen and how it could be.”

Rihanna Sings Praises Of Loud Collaborator Nicki Minaj

Though scheduling issues forced Nicki Minaj to drop out of Rihanna’s Last Girl on Earth tour this summer, the pair did eventually get to hook up on “Raining Men,” a track that will appear on the singer’s forthcoming album, Loud. And from the way RiRi praises the up-and-coming Minaj, this won’t be their last time working together.

“You know, I worked with her before on [2009's] Rated R and she was just writing me some really good ballads, and I couldn’t wait to work with her again and finally have her on my record,” Rihanna told Capital FM.

Rihanna described “Raining Men” as “a really fun song. … No, nothing like the original. It’s quite uptempo but kind of quirky and funny.”

The singer also noted in the interview that she loves Nicki’s completely over-the-top persona. “She has a great buzz and she has a ‘thing’ to her. She is a star and that’s why people love her. She’s also really entertaining with her visual as well as her lyrics, and she has a great melody.”

She was quick to point out, though, that Nicki is also a truly talented artist. “I’m really amazed that she can write like that. [Nicki] not only raps but she can write songs too,” Rihanna explained. “It was really easy actually. We were going back and forth with the texts on how we were going to get to do it because we were in two different places and had two opposite schedules.”

As for the album, after a mixed reaction to Rated R, Rihanna has noted that she stepped up her game for this next effort. “I made sure not to let you down with my music! You guys are always defending me, so now you’ve got some great songs to justify it,” Rihanna told fans back in September when she announced the title of her forthcoming release. “I didn’t want to go backward and remake [2007's] Good Girl Gone Bad. I wanted the next step in the evolution of Rihanna, and it’s perfect for us.”

Besides the Minaj collaboration, Rihanna also hooked up with Drake for a remix version of “What’s My Name” that will appear as a bonus track on Loud. The album is scheduled to hit stores on November 16.

Taylor Swift Says ‘Back To December’ Lyrics Are An Apology

Taylor Swift is sorry, and she wants one of her former boyfriends to know. On her brand-new track “Back to December,” she’s in full-on apologetic mode.

We may never know who she’s singing about on the ballad, which will appear on her October 25 release Speak Now. But she told MTV News that the time was right for her to write a song in which she said sorry.

“Well, I’ve always sort of written songs about situations in life, things that needed to be said,” she said. “I write songs about people who deserve to have songs written about them, and whatever they need to hear, whatever is the right thing to say to that person, ends up being said.”

On the tune’s chorus, Swift sings, “So this is me swallowing my pride/ Standing in front of you saying ‘I’m sorry’ for that night/ And I go back to December all the time/ It turns out freedom ain’t nothing/ Missing you, wishing I’d realized what I had when you were mine/ I’d go back to December, turn around and make it all right/ I go back to December all the time.”

She says now that those feelings stemmed from a relationship during which she was “careless.”

“I’ve never felt the need to apologize in a song before. But in the last two years I’ve experienced a lot, [including] a lot of different kinds of learning lessons,” she said. “And sometimes you learn a lesson too late and at that point you need to apologize because you were careless.”

This is the fourth song released in advance of Speak Now’s late-October release. The release of the album’s first official single, “Mine,” was followed by the debut of “Innocent” at the VMAs in September. The album’s title track debuted on October 5.

‘Glee’ Britney Spears Episode Slammed By Parents Television Council

Last week’s episode of “Glee” found Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) shouting, “It’s a Britney Spears sex riot!” as she attempted to put a stop to the glee club’s saucy rendition of “Toxic.”

But she’s not the only one who had an issue with the Spears takeover at William McKinley High School. The hit Fox show has come under fire as the Parents Television Council has deemed the “Britney/Brittany” episode the “Worst TV Show of the Week” due to the broadcast’s “explicit sexual content.”

A message posted on the organization’s website decries the episode’s “skimpy outfits” and “sultry grinds” during “I’m a Slave 4 U.” And even though “Glee” castmembers show very little skin in the re-creation for the 2001 Madonna duet “Me Against the Music,” the PTC said the interpretation included “plenty of girl-girl bumping and grinding.”

According to the group, the tribute to the always-controversial Spears wasn’t appropriate because the singer is far from a well-suited role model. “Glee earned its highest ratings ever with this Britney Spears tribute, drawing 13.3 million viewers,” the message continued. “A scary thought considering that the mostly young teen/tween audience basically witnessed an endorsement of narcotics abuse, public masturbation, and school-sanctioned burlesque. But perhaps most troubling is the deification of a troubled pop star into a symbol of empowerment and self-esteem. Considering her stints in rehab, her very public breakdowns, and her questionable parenting skills, there is absolutely no way Spears should be considered a role model. The producers of the show can spare us the old song-and-dance about fallen celebs turning their lives around. What’s next? Portraying Ike Turner as a reformed feminist?”

Spears knows controversy and criticism far too well. Since the beginning of her career, she’s always raised eyebrows with everything from her sex-kitten public image to her sometimes-questionable parental judgment. While the pop star has stayed relatively safe since her comeback, the singer did make headlines last year for her suggestive single “If U Seek Amy,” the third offering from her album Circus.

Miley Cyrus ‘Who Owns My Heart’ Video Blasted By Parents Television Council

Miley Cyrus’ new single, “Who Owns My Heart,” may question who the pop star’s latest boy toy is but the video certainly declares that the teen singer is embracing a sexier persona. However, some believe the 17-year-old singer’s racy image is damaging to her legions of young fans.

In the clip, a scantily-clad Cyrus gets dolled up in her room and shows a lot of leg while grooving in the backseat of a car on her way to a rager at a mansion. The teen starlet then spends most of the video dancing in tiny shorts, a revealing halter, big hair and heels and partying until the wee hours.

Tim Winter, who serves as president of the Parents Television Council, told TMZ that the “Hannah Montana” star’s sexed-up clip relays the wrong message to her teen following.

“It is unfortunate that she would participate in such a sexualized video like this one,” Winter said. “It sends messages to her fanbase that are diametrically opposed to everything she has done up to this point. Miley built her fame and fortune entirely on the backs of young girls, and it saddens us that she seems so eager to distance herself from that fanbase so rapidly.”

This isn’t the first time the Disney star has faced controversy in her attempts to break away from her squeaky-clean, teen idol status. Her pole-dancing move at the at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards grabbed headlines and her latest LP, Can’t Be Tamed, features a much more vampy persona than her “Hannah Montana” alter ego.

“I’m a completely different person [than when I released 2008's Breakout]. I’m much more confident. You know, I’ve always been a confident person, but I was going through a lot then,” Cyrus told MTV News in June. “There’s so many people in your life telling you who you should and shouldn’t be,” Cyrus said. “And that’s what Tamed [is] about. It’s about being who you are to the fullest. And now I know who that is.”

The group has also recently slammed the Britney/Brittany “Glee” episode.

Katy Perry Releases ‘Firework’ Artwork

Katy Perry’s next single, “Firework,” is set to hit airwaves on October 26, and even though the song is about colorful outbursts, the single’s stark artwork is mostly rendered in black and white. Perry, shot from her shoulders up, is rocking her signature bangs and wearing lots of eyeliner.

Perry also took to her Twitter account late Wednesday (October 6) to drop hints about her forthcoming tour. She tweeted, “I will OFFICIALLY announce the start of my TOUR on MONDAY… oy, I hate secrets BUT I love surprises! Guess what it’s called…?”

Perry tweeted about the “Fireworks” video shoot at the end of September, although at the time, she played coy about what song would be accompanying the clip. She simply noted that the end result would be “sparkling,” which now seems fitting considering the song’s title.

Perry didn’t go into details about the clip’s concept, but she did thank the people she worked with on Twitter. “Not gonna stop shooting till the sun comes up cause we are a LIGHT in a dark place!” She wrapped the shoot on September 30, saying, “I want to thank all the magical people that brought their sparks to this video the past few days … your light reminded me of my purpose.”

Perry has been open about her love for the song Teenage Dream’s release. “People are coming back and almost adopting it as their own anthem, and it’s hard, I think, to write an anthem that’s not cheesy,” she told MTV News. “And I hope that this could be something in that category. I hope this could be one of those things where it’s like, ‘Yeah, I want to put my fist up and feel proud and feel strong.’

“But I also don’t want to be cheesy,” she reiterated. “It’s a fine line, and I think ‘Firework’ … would be like the opus or my one song — if I had to pick a song to play — ’cause it has a great beat. But it also has a fantastic message.”

Quit the games you're playing

I've been watching you
Looking for someone that you can conquer
I've been watching you
Bein' a player
If you wanna be my man
You have got to cease the chasing game

Won't you drop your guns, arms in the air baby (yea)
Shake it up for once, so do you dare?
If you were my man, If you were my man
Won't you drop your guns for me? (for me)

Anggun - In Your Mind

Its all in your mind,
In Your Mind...

I don't want to believe
And I don't want to live
By the excuses
Of your weakness

`cause a woman should do
What she wants to do
There is no reason
For your shallow aggravation

Chours
Nothing wrong with this smile I dare
Nothing wrong with my long black hair
I'ts all in your mind, in your mind

Nothing wrong with this legs you see
Nothing wrong with this lean body
And nothing wrong with the woman in me
Its' all in your mind, in your mind>

I just want to be sure
Don't want anymore
You're calling out names
Oh what a shame

Just open your mind
Then maybe you'll find
That there's no reason
For your shallow aggravation

Chorus
Nothing wrong with this smile I dare
Nothing wrong with my long black hair
I'ts all in your mind, in your mind

Nothing wrong with this legs you see
Nothing wrong with this lean body
And nothing wrong with the woman in me
Its' all in your mind, in your mind >

Nothing wrong with this dress I wear
or this smile I dare
Its all in your mind... in your mind

this legs you see
this lean body
its all what you see in your mind 2x
its only in your mind...

This is the time
To change your mind

There's still a chance
To change your mind
It's plain to see
From anywhere the only thing wrong
Is your irritating mind

Repeat Chorus 3X
Nothing wrong with this smile I dare
Nothing wrong with my long black hair
I'ts all in your mind, in your mind

Nothing wrong with this legs you see
Nothing wrong with this lean body
And nothing wrong with the woman in me
Its' all in your mind, in your mind >

In your mind...

Michael Buble - Hollywood

Could you be a teenage idol
Could you be a movie star
When l turn on my tv
Will you smile and wave at me telling Oparah who you are.
So you want to be a rock star
With blue eyed bunny’s in your bed
Well remember when you’re rich that you sold yourself for this, you’ll be famous cuz you’re dead.

Chorus
So don’t go higher for desire
Put it in your head
Baby Hollywood is dead you can find it in yourself.

I don’t want to take you dancing
When you’re dancing with the world
Well You can flash your caviar and your million dollar car
I don’t need that kind of girl
but you could be that next sensation or will you set the latest style
You don’t need a catchy song
Cuz the kids will sing along
When you shoot it with a smile

Chorus
So don’t go higher for desire
Put it in your head
Baby Hollywood is dead you can find it in yourself.

So don’t fly higher for your fire
Put it in your head
Baby Hollywood is dead you can find it in yourself.
Keep it on your head Hollywood is dead.

Well you can do the mighty tango
You can start your little thing
You can swing from vine to vine
While the kiddies wait in line
With the money in their hands
But if you get to California
Save a piece of gold for me
If it’s the only thing you save
Then I’ll bet you’ll never wave when I watch you on tv.

Chorus
So don’t go higher for desire
Put it in your head
Baby Hollywood is dead you can find it in yourself.

So don’t fly higher for your fire
Put it in your head
Baby Hollywood is dead you can find it in yourself.

Keep on loving what is true and the world will come to you, you can find it in yourself

Love what is true and the world will come to you, you can find it in yourself
No no no no no
Keep it in your head Hollywood is dead
Come come Hollywood is dead babe woo hoo
Oh Hollywood is dead yeah yeah
Keep on loving what is true and the world will come to you, you can find it in yourself
Get it in your head Hollywood is dead

Anggun - Still Reminds Me

I cut off my hair
Put some red on every nail on my feet
I think it's pretty
I repainted all the rooms
Got a cat that I named June, obviously
I think she's happy
Friends threw some parties
I've been to them all there's not one that I missed

And I've tried to spend my time with somebody new
But everyone
Still reminds me of you
And tried to play some songs that change my point of view
But every sound
Still reminds me of you

I've done some walking
Listen to the people talk on the street
I don't feel lonely
I saw some movies
But your face kept coming back on the screen
I think I'm crazy
Can't make decisions
I could use some more distractions today

And I've tried to spend my time with somebody new
But everyone
Still reminds me of you
And tried to play some songs that change my point of view
But every sound
Still reminds me of you

I wonder where did I go wrong? What made you gone?
How I hate to feel alone

I've tried to spend my time with somebody new
But everyone
Still reminds me of you
And tried to play some songs that change my point of view
But every sound
Still reminds me of you
Still reminds me...

Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are

Oh her eyes, her eyes
Make the stars look like they're not shining
Her hair, her hair
Falls perfectly without her trying

She's so beautiful
And I tell her every day

Yeah I know, I know
When I compliment her
She wont believe me
And its so, its so
Sad to think she don't see what I see

But every time she asks me do I look okay
I say

When I see your face
There's not a thing that I would change
Cause you're amazing
Just the way you are
And when you smile,
The whole world stops and stares for awhile
Cause girl you're amazing
Just the way you are

Her nails, her nails
I could kiss them all day if she'd let me
Her laugh, her laugh
She hates but I think its so sexy

She's so beautiful
And I tell her every day

Oh you know, you know, you know
Id never ask you to change
If perfect is what you're searching for
Then just stay the same

So don't even bother asking
If you look okay
You know I say

When I see your face
There's not a thing that I would change
Cause you're amazing
Just the way you are
And when you smile,
The whole world stops and stares for awhile
Cause girl you're amazing
Just the way you are

The way you are
The way you are
Girl you're amazing
Just the way you are

When I see your face
There's not a thing that I would change
Cause you're amazing
Just the way you are
And when you smile,
The whole world stops and stares for awhile
Cause girl you're amazing
Just the way you are

Taylor Swift Mine

Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh

You were in college, working part-time, waiting tables
Left a small town and never looked back
I was a flight risk, afraid of fallin'
Wondering why we bother with love, if it never lasts

I say, "Can you believe it?"
As we're lyin' on the couch
The moment, I can see it
Yes, yes, I can see it now

Do you remember, we were sittin' there, by the water?
You put your arm around me for the fist time
You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter
You are the best thing that's ever been mine

Flash forward, and we're takin' on the world together
And there's a drawer of my things at your place
You learn my secrets and figure out why I'm guarded
You say we'll never make my parents' mistakes

But we got bills to pay
We got nothin' figured out
When it was hard to take
Yes, yes

This is what I thought about:

Do you remember, we were sittin' there, by the water?
You put your arm around me for the fist time
You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter
You are the best thing that's ever been mine

Do you remember all the city lights on the water?
You saw me start to believe for the first time
You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter
You are the best thing that's ever been mine

Oh, oh, oh, oh

And I remember that fight, two-thirty AM
You said everything was slipping right out of our hands
I ran out, crying, and you followed me out into the street

Braced myself for the goodbye, cause that's all I've ever known
Then, you took me by surprise
You said, "I'll never leave you alone."

You said, "I remember how we felt, sitting by the water.
And every time I look at you, it's like the first time.
I fell in love with a careless man's careful daughter.
She is the best thing that's ever been mine."

You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter
You are the best thing that's ever been mine

Do you believe it?
We're gonna make it now
And I can see it

I can see it now

Taylor Swift Talks Speak Now, Taylor Lautner

In the new issue of Glamour, Taylor Swift opened up about the past two (very active) years of her life. The interview touches on everything from the singer’s relationship with Taylor Lautner to the now-infamous Kanye West incident at the 2009 VMAs — but if you think she doesn’t pull any punches in the cover article, just wait until you hear her new album, Speak Now, which is due October 25.

“I’m not only excited about sharing the songs with fans,” Swift said. “I’m also pretty interested to hear the response from the guys I’ve written about on this record.”

At the VMAs last month, Swift debuted “Innocent,” a song from the album that was almost certainly directed at West, while lead Speak single “Mine” is about falling in love with a man who “made a rebel out of a careless man’s careful daughter.” So clearly, she’s singing from the heart, and she’s not afraid to get personal either.

“Everything that happens to me gets put into a song,” Swift explained. “For some reason, I’m really comfortable talking about my personal life in songs. There, I don’t hold back: names, dates, times, expressions on people’s faces, exactly where we were and how it felt, what I wish I would have said to them in the moment.”

It’s not all acrimonious, though. Swift also revealed that, despite splitting with Lautner, he remains one of her “best friends.” She added that she’s looking for a man “who loves what he does. … These days, I look for character and honesty and trust.” And who knows, in that search, she might just find fodder for the follow-up to Speak Now.

“I like to write about relationships,” she said. “I like it when my friends come over and we crowd around the piano and sing Journey songs at the top of our lungs. … And I like things that make me feel 7 again.”

Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber Soon To Pass 1 Billion YouTube Views

People love to watch videos by Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber. Like, a lot of people . . . a lot of times.

According to Billboard magazine, both artists are poised to cross a seemingly impossible barrier in the next month: one billion all-time YouTube views.

Gaga — who averaged almost 1.8 million views per day in September — is predicted to reach the milestone first at her current pace, around October 20. Bieber — with around 3.7 million views per day in September — will be close on her heels, with a predicted November 1 arrival at the mark.

David Birch, communications director for TubeMogul, an online video analytics and viewer data research firm, said the two will reach the landmark by easily outperforming the next closest artist, late pop icon Michael Jackson, who has around 600 million views on YouTube.

Though Gaga will likely hit the billion plateau first, Bieber has actually been lapping her in the YouTube views department for most of this year. From July 1 to September 28, TubeMogul reported that the teen pop star averaged 3.98 million daily views to Lady G’s 2.04 million. He’s been on that torrid pace since February 28, averaging 3.83 million daily views while Gaga has averaged 2.53 million. In comparison, Billboard noted that in that same period, Kanye West averaged 271,000 daily views.

It helps that both artists have a number of YouTube’s all-time most-viewed music clips, with Gaga’s “Bad Romance” ranking No. 2 with 288 million views, “Just Dance” a bit further back at No. 11 with 123 million views, “Alejandro” at No. 26 with 87 million and “Telephone” at No. 31 with 85 million. As for Bieber, his smash “Baby” is the most-watched video ever on YouTube with 345 million views, while his “Never Let You Go” lands at No. 22 with 92 million views and “Never Say Never” is at No. 28 with 86 million.

Gaga actually passed the one billion mark in total online views (both on and outside of YouTube) in March, thanks to landing three clips in the 100 million-plus club.

Black Eyed Peas To Go Back To The Beginning

The Black Eyed Peas have already taken millions of us to The E.N.D., so it only makes sense that on their upcoming album they’re going to take us back to The Beginning. That’s the name of the sequel to last year’s nearly triple-platinum album, which just last week fell out of the top 40 on the Billboard albums chart after more than a year on the tally. A spokesperson for the band’s label confirmed the title of the LP and its November 30 release date to MTV News.

In a recent Dipdive.com interview from the set of will.i.am and Nicki Minaj’s “Check It Out” video, BEP leader will.i.am revealed that the band has a new collaborator on the disc: Damien “DJ Ammo” LeRoy, who worked on four songs. According to his online bio, the little known, Los Angeles-based Ammo regularly DJs all over the world and has played parties for Will, BEP singer Fergie and Outkast. Ammo is also behind remixes for the Veronicas and the BEPs and produced Kelis’ single “4th of July (Fireworks),” which was released on Will’s label via Interscope.

Will said that in addition to producing three songs himself on the 12-track Beginning, dance-floor master David Guetta had a hand in producing two others. Describing the prequel to The Associated Press back in July, Will described it as symbolizing “growth, new beginnings and starts, fresh new perspective.”

The Peas have a tough act to follow, considering The E.N.D. is certified double-platinum in the U.S. and has produced three #1 singles, including the mega-smashes “I Gotta Feeling” and “Boom Boom Pow.” A first single from the album is tentatively due in October and while fans haven’t heard it yet, will.i.am recently broke down his hit-making strategy for MTV’s “The Seven.”

“We call it ‘A-B-ing.’ Anything you make, there’s nothing new under the sun. So there’s always an ‘A and B’ to whatever your approach is,” he said of producing smashes for everyone from Usher to Estelle and Nicki Minaj. “So if you want a song to be a big #1 smash, then you have to play a Michael Jackson song while you’re making your song.”

He said using an artist such as Jackson as a benchmark will usually let a producer know if a track really has that “It” factor. “What you don’t want to do is have a ‘hit record’ and then turn it on and it isn’t as loud as Michael Jackson’s.”
